Hello again !
It's been a long time since the last update ! Well a lot of water has flown under the bridge and I thought to write a thing or two. Finally I changed my old notebook which was way way obsolete and opted after long and ponderous thinking for an iMac, of course I bought the most vicious one
I have to say that I'm really happy the way it works. Mac is really something, but (there is always a but) i sure miss some things from XP. I really can't say that macOS is perfect, thought it was, but it isn't, it's just another operating system with it's flaws.....but all in all there were so much things I liked, so we can say I'm quite happy with it
It's really working great and the 24' inch screen is something awesome.....I f....ed myself because from now on I'll never buy a monitor smaller than 24.....the way it reproduces colors and renders images......well it's simply stunning ! I guess not every monitor is like this, but the apple guys sure knew what they were doing with the monitor quality....
I'm a bad bad guy ! why ? because even though I have a new Power Machine I haven't done a scrap in Photoshop.....And I don't like that ! I really ought to draw a new space piece that could surpass my latest Black Hole Sun. I have some plans about a new space piece but really haven't got the time right now. I have to finish my exams and then, right after my birthday, feb 24th, I'm flying with my girlfriend to NY City. Yeah I can't wait
now I should concentrate on my studying but all I do is thinking about the trip and the purchase (FINALLY) of my new, one and only, first and most special, DSLR !!!! ooooooouuuu God I can't wait.....I was reading my last journal where I mentioned, something about a year ago maybe, that I was searching for a DSLR. My God, when I ponder now upon my last few years, I realize that the whole time I was searching for a perfect (for me) DSLR and I really really strangled everyone around me !!!
Enough !!! (as a fantasy warlord would say with a thunderous voice) I bow to u o Warlord of the Old, and I promise I won't torture my friends and family anymore !!! I think they r all sick when they see my lips moving in a direction that soon after pronounce the fatal word CAMERA
I'm starting to bore myself too. So after 3 years, give or take, I am ready for the leap of faith ! from my previous journals u could see that I was all about Nikon, I still really like Nikon and couldn't say that I'm a Canon guy rather than Nikon (because I never used one of those) but some recent developments had made me change my mind and opt for Canon digital camera. I first wanted the Nikon d40, then d80 (but it was old already) and her successor the now known d90. In the meantime I wanted so bad the d300 which I thought great, but as months passed and finally a year the d300 was old and the d90 was better....but as always during these 3 years Nikon lacked something crucial....and stopped me from going all the way.....they r all great cams but I was ever searching for the holy grail. I know that is not the way it's done, you go and buy, but I think about it in another way.....It's ok to - go, did, gone - when you buy something, but I'm spending some serious money here and I want to think it through. So Nikon didn't offer what I was searching (too bad, I really even now adore Nikon) so I started looking the other way, the Canons way.....there I saw some 40d's, 50ies and then finally She Came out: The Titanic Goddess of the Dawn (EOS) and that was it.....love at first sight in every possible way except for the AF system......In a way I am really unhappy that Nikon couldn't deliver a Full Frame camera for Landscapers like Canon did even 3 years ago with it's first consumer friendly Full Frame 5D. Of course there is a D700 and it is a wonderful camera, surely much better in some aspects then the 5D, but for my purpose 5D is IT,one other thing that wouldn't let me change my mind was the weight of the D700 over the 5D Mark II - some 200 grams the difference, Alas too much. So I seriously reconsidered all of my aspects and threw all of my previous theories in to the Recycle Bin (we have to take care of Mother Earth
and started from scratch. When u buy a cam for u, you really should know what u want to do with it, but I really mean know what.....in terms of genre. My ultimate goal for my Soul is serious Landscape: after a lot of thinking and reading about APS-C sensors and all available cameras, and Full Frame cameras, the decision was: FF and 5D......
My luck is that probably here in Europe it will cost more than 3000 Euro, and in NY it will cost 2700 USD, which is about 2000 Euro. just so u can imagine what I'm talking about read this: right now in Italy Nikon d300 with a lens comes more than 2000 euro
what is there to talk about ! I should spend the same amount of money for a camera that is more than a year old and that isn't in the same class as 5D. and with 5D u can really grow.....I won't surpass it after 2 or 3 years. and Full Frame capabilities offer a different view on the world of Photography
and some much more Power Shooting Features.....
I just want to name one: clear ISO to almost 6400
so that is my choice after almost 3 years of searching.....I think it's a good choice, not optimal (as would be maybe, spending 14K USD on a Medium Format Mamiya DL28) but hey it's a rather good, I dare say excellent, continuation of my Photography experience.....I think It's worth it's bang for the buck ! and investing slowly in the great canon L series Lens is an investment in the future.....I sure won't have to sell my gear to go to something "bigger" once. and surely this is not the type of camera that u have to change every 2,3 years to keep up. Hell even the old 5D is better than a lot of nowadays cams. So finally I chose The Goddess of Dawn incarnated in the newest Canon Eos 5D Mark II.
and I'm glad for it
Thanks for reading this and I'll keep u posted once I get back from NY with my new monster cam in March. And hopefully you'll be able to see soon with your own eyes what this kitty can do
cheers to everyone !
